The Coalition and its objectives

The Great Lakes Coalition Against the Death Penalty brings together organisations that have decided to cooperate across borders to achieve the complete abolition of the death penalty in this African region.

It is open to all abolitionist NGOs and civil society organisations willing to co-ordinate their efforts at the regional level and to display solidarity in the face of obstacles raised on the road to abolition.

The Great Lakes Coalition is supported by the World Coalition Against the Death Penalty and facilitates co-operation between the region’s abolitionists and those across the world.
